RECENT WORK 2023

THE INNOCENT 2012-2022

The works in these series address the many killings in the Educational institutions in the USA. The images show the victims of 2 schools - Sandy Hook in Newtown, Connecticut, and Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas.It is important to bring these issues to the Public’s attention. The images in these series are digitally photographed and further manipulated with stitch to add form and texture. New technology is combined with traditiona skills ie Gun using the laser cutter on wood with stitch.

Education is important ; the shootings and killings have affected the teaching in these Institutions as in some schools, universities the staff are forced to learn how to defend themselves and the students in events such as this.

The recent works (2020-2022) relate to Place, History, Social Justice. The large Installation, In Memoriam

Curtain relates to the killings re: gun violence and police brutality in the USA. The images are digitally generated and manipulated with stitch, collage on handmade felt.

History of A Place-Cape Town shows images re:Culture,Slavery, History,Resources,Humour etc.The work is comprised of 93 panels depicting each section. The work is on cotton fabric, paint and embroidery is

incorporated in the work.
